A man who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and distributed them to children at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two boys both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he ran.
Ruben played a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.
She said the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained materials including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were found, and his stepson notified the authorities about his worries.
She explained Ruben proceeded to play the "sweet game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the situation.
Mrs Prior explained the youngsters were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson called the police a second time.
She explained Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
